How to Promote Your Website

Broaden your horizons: how can you bring more visitors to your website?

Your business is built on sharing your skills and products with others. Overcome any reluctance you have to share. Promoting what you do benefits you and your customers, letting them know about new opportunities to engage with your products and your work. How can you spread the word about what you do?

Your Site Is a Resource

As a business who relies on drawing in your leads rather than pushing out traditional advertising, you might feel reluctant about advertising your work. When you make your site into a valuable resource, this is your best advertising. Creating consistent and solid content in your field will draw your readers to you, building your reputation and turning visitors into paying customers. Watch your statistics to see what keywords draw your customers in, but remember that your content must be about more than keywords: it's about creating value for your customers so that you develop your reputation as a resource. When you promote your site, remember that you're letting your leads and current customers know about the resources that you have to share.

Your site is a resource. Remind your customers to use it.

Use the Missing Link

Are your company's emails really doing their job? As you send out information to prospective and current customers, include a signature, tag line, or link to your newest content on your site. Adding this link is a quiet but effective form of advertising that reminds your customers to use your site as a resource and allows you to promote what's current on your site.

Talk and Talk Some More

While talking to customers in person might seem retro for a web-based business, when you speak to customers, live chat, or email customers, encourage your customers to visit your site for resources and subscribe to your email list for current information. Remind them to get their friends to do the same. When you put valuable resources on your site, word of mouth will draw people to them.

Get Social

Of course, in this networked world you need to remember to engage with your customers through social media such as Twitter and Facebook. While social media is its own web-based venue, your conversations on social media don't need to stay there. Refer people to your website by sharing content and events with links back to your site. Instead of posting a new photo through Facebook, post a link to your site that contains the photo. This will subtly draw your customers back to your site.

Spread the News

When you have leads on your site, you likely ask them to commit, to add their information to a newsletter list so that you can communicate with them in the future. Once you have subscribers to your newsletter, remember to use that newsletter to draw people back to your site. Connect newsletter articles to valuable information or products so that your leads will click through.

Connect Information Products To Your Site

As you create eBooks, webinars, videos, and other media that may be shared on social media venues such as Pinterest, Instagram, or venues within your field, make sure that you refer to your website resources. You can do this within your products, linking to or referring to web resources, and you can also do this at the end. Remind your readers or viewers to visit your site for current content and resources.

Be A Guest

When you provide resources to others, they're happy to provide links back to your website. Add a guest blog to another company's site, and create a targeted landing page that helps those new visitors connect with your content and your products.
