Is Your Landing Page Hurting Your Inbound Leads?

Your landing page should be straightforward
and easy to understand.

The web is full of words. You probably spend a large part of your day moving through these words. From emails to articles, the amount of text we work through can feel overwhelming at times. That's why it's so important to ensure that your landing page gets to the point quickly and clearly. Make sure that your landing page avoids these four problems, or you could lose inbound leads.

Too Many Words

When visitors come to your site, they probably come based on a search or a recommendation. They want to make sure that your products fill their needs. Your landing page needs to let them know how your products will do just that. If you fill your landing page up with vague or extraneous information, your visitors may get confused and leave to find another product. Be clear, be concise, and direct your readers to additional information.

A landing page that has too many option or a confusing
layout can make your readers give up on your products.

Too Many Options

It's good to have options, but when you're looking at a new website sometimes too many options can be overwhelming. Where do you find the specific product information you need? How do you get to that store? Your landing page needs basic product and contact information and menus where customers can find more information if they need to do so. If your product appeals to many different audiences, create pages for these interests so that your inbound leads can converge on your landing page and diverge into their separate areas of the site that are targeted to their needs.

A Messy Look

With today's ability to customize templates, there's no excuse for having a site that looks like a patchwork quilt. If your site is visually unattractive or messy, customers get confused and may feel like your business is not professional. Your landing page needs to look clean, clear, and direct your inbound leads to more information. Use bullet points, bolding, and highlighting to direct your readers' attention to specific pieces of text. Think about the key colors, lines, and images that you want to associate with your brand.

No Call to Action

Once your inbound leads visit your website, what happens next? What action do you want them to take? Your call to action on your site must be very explicit. Try to include a single call, so that your readers know where to click. Invite your readers to contact you to find out more information about a product, sign up for an email list, subscribe to a webinar, or take another action to connect with you.

Too Slow

Your landing page might be lovely, but if no one gets to see it there is no point. When you're creating a landing page, make sure that you keep it simple enough that it will load quickly. Choose your graphics wisely. Test your page on different devices and older devices to make sure that it will load well.
